Markets still quite firm

BLOG MEANT FOR 3 SEPTEMBER 2018 Monday

Dear friends,

Flat close for markets on Friday evening. Nifty closed 4 points higher. Global cues were little negative on Friday in Europe but slightly positive in US. However, Monday’s movement in our markets will depend on how Asian markets open in the new week.

Nifty index is in Hold Zone for Short term.

The indications for individual stocks for short term only are –

HOLD ZONE – RELIANCE INDUSTRIES, ITC, AXIS BANK, SBI,  TCS, M&M, HINDALCO, INFOSYS, VEDANTA

DON’T BUY ZONE – HDFC BANK, ASIAN PAINTS, YES BANK, HDFC, MARUTI

WAIT TO BUY – TITAN

Question from a Participant –

Last few days, YES Bank shares have fallen by 10%. I am a long term investor. Can I still hold YES Bank shares for long term?

Our Answer –

Just because a particular share falls by some percentage, it does not mean we have to doubt the company’s future potential. In the short term, share price can fall for various reasons which may not have any major reason to affect its long term performance.

As a long term investors, we need to satisfy ourselves that the company’s business performance in terms of profits and growth of revenue etc is good and it is steadily improving. As long as the fundamentals of the company intact, there is no reason to worry if the price of some company suddenly falls in the short term. In fact, it could be a good buying opportunity to buy at lower prices.

Hence, do not be too concerned about short term fluctuations in markets if you are long term investor. Only be concerned about the fundamentals of the company.
